LG’s brilliant B5 OLED TV is already down to just $530 for Black Friday

By Eric November 2, 2025

Best Buy is kicking off its early Black Friday sales with an impressive doorbuster deal on the LG 48-inch B5 OLED TV, offering a staggering $770 off the regular price. This brings the cost down to just $529.99, making it an enticing option for those looking to upgrade their home entertainment setup. The 55-inch model is also available at a discount, priced around $896, which is $604 off its typical retail price. With these deals, Best Buy is positioning itself as a go-to destination for holiday shopping, especially for tech enthusiasts and gamers eager to enhance their viewing experience.

The LG B5 OLED TV stands out as an entry-level model in LG’s OLED lineup, providing an affordable gateway into the world of OLED technology. While it may not reach the brightness levels of similarly priced LED TVs, it excels in delivering superior black levels, contrast, and wide viewing angles. The B5’s performance closely resembles that of LG’s higher-end C3 model, making it a compelling choice for movie lovers and gamers alike. It features four HDMI 2.1 ports capable of supporting 4K at 120Hz, which is particularly beneficial for gaming, alongside compatibility with advanced formats like Dolby Vision and HDR10. Moreover, its Filmmaker Mode allows viewers to experience films as intended by the directors, enhancing the overall viewing experience.

Despite its many strengths, the B5 OLED does have some limitations, such as average peak brightness and challenges with handling reflections, which may affect viewing in brightly lit rooms. However, for those who can position this TV in a darker environment, it promises an exceptional cinematic experience. With its excellent performance and attractive pricing during this early Black Friday event, the LG B5 OLED TV is an appealing option for anyone looking to elevate their home entertainment system, especially in anticipation of the holiday season. Whether you’re replacing an old TV or simply upgrading, this deal is certainly worth considering.

LG’s entry-level B Series offers one of the most affordable ways to jump into the world of OLED technology. Although the B5 can’t match the brightness of comparably priced LED TVs, it delivers far better black level performance and contrast, as well as excellent viewing angles. As far as we can tell, the B5 closely matches the display performance of LG’s flagship C3 from a few years ago.

In addition to 4K resolution, the B5 features four HDMI 2.1 ports — all of which support up to 4K at 120Hz with variable refresh rate for gaming — along with support for premium formats such as Dolby Vision and HDR10. It supports Filmmaker Mode, too, which aims to present movies as directors intended by disabling certain settings, such as motion smoothing and image sharpening. The B5 also runs on LG’s speedy Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen 2, so swiping through LG’s webOS interface isn’t a slog. Meanwhile, support for Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast makes it easy to stream content from a compatible device, including your phone or tablet.

As great as the B5 is, the set offers middling peak brightness and struggles with handling reflections, according to the folks over at

. That said, it’s a great option for gaming, and if you can place it in a room without a lot of ambient light, it’s a nice upgrade for movie night. My 10-year-old Phillips TV broke at the beginning of summer, and I think I finally found a suitable replacement.
