Dolby Atmos arrives in the new, affordable China-exclusive Hyundai Elexio

By Eric November 1, 2025

In a notable shift within the automotive industry, Hyundai has made a bold move by integrating Dolby Atmos audio technology into its new entry-level Elexio electric vehicle (EV). This SUV, which is currently exclusive to the Chinese market, is priced between RMB 119,800 and 149,800, translating to approximately $16,800 to $21,000. This decision marks a significant departure from the trend of luxury car manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz, Rivian, Cadillac, and Lucid, who typically offer Dolby Atmos as part of a high-end audio package in vehicles that often exceed $70,000. By including this cutting-edge audio experience as standard across all trims of the Elexio, Hyundai is making high-quality sound more accessible to a broader range of consumers.

The Elexio features six built-in speakers that deliver the immersive sound experience associated with Dolby Atmos, with the option to upgrade to eight speakers through an external amplifier. This approach not only enhances the driving experience but also positions Hyundai as a forward-thinking brand that prioritizes modern technology and consumer preferences, even in more budget-friendly vehicles. By democratizing access to premium audio experiences, Hyundai is likely to attract younger, tech-savvy buyers who seek both affordability and advanced features in their vehicles. As the market for electric vehicles continues to grow, the inclusion of such innovative technology could set Hyundai apart from competitors and redefine expectations for entry-level EVs in the automotive landscape.
