Mark Zuckerberg is excited to add more AI content to all your social feeds
In a recent earnings call, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled plans to significantly enhance the presence of AI-generated content within users’ social feeds. He emphasized that the company is preparing to introduce “yet another huge corpus of content” into its recommendation systems, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence that facilitate the creation and remixing of online material. Zuckerberg outlined the evolution of social media, highlighting two distinct eras: the first focused on content from friends and family, and the second marked by the influx of creator-generated content. While he refrained from labeling AI as the third era, it is evident that AI technology will play a pivotal role in shaping the future landscape of social media.
Zuckerberg underscored the importance of recommendation systems that can “deeply understand” AI-generated posts, asserting that these systems will be increasingly valuable in curating content that resonates with users. Meta has already begun integrating AI tools across its platforms and is experimenting with dedicated AI social applications. A notable example is the Vibes app, which has seen users generate over 20 billion images, providing a feed of AI-generated videos akin to OpenAI’s Sora. CFO Susan Li highlighted Vibes as a prime illustration of new content types enabled by AI, with Zuckerberg suggesting that there are ample opportunities for further innovation in this space.
Financially, Meta reported a robust revenue of $51.24 billion for the quarter, reflecting a 26% increase year-over-year. However, the company faced a significant one-time tax charge of $15.93 billion due to implications from President Donald Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. As Meta navigates the intersection of AI and social media, the company’s strategic direction indicates a commitment to evolving user experiences and content creation, signaling exciting developments on the horizon for both creators and consumers alike.

The second was when we added all of the Creator content.” Though Zuckerberg stops short of calling AI the third era of social media, it’s clear that the technology will be heavily involved in what comes next.
