Critics Choice Awards nominations 2026: Sinners and One Battle After Another take a commanding lead

The nominations for the 31st Critics Choice Awards have set the stage for an exciting awards season, with Ryan Coogler’s vampire film *Sinners* emerging as the frontrunner with an impressive 17 nominations. This includes prestigious categories such as Best Picture, Best Director for Coogler, and acting nods for Michael B. Jordan in Best Actor and Wunmi Mosaku in Best Supporting Actress. Following closely behind is Paul Thomas Anderson’s *One Battle After Another*, which garnered 14 nominations, showcasing the talents of Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti in the lead acting categories, alongside supporting performances from Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn. Other notable films in contention include Chloé Zhao’s *Hamnet* and Guillermo del Toro’s *Frankenstein*, both securing 11 nominations each, further enriching the competitive landscape of this year’s awards.

On the television front, *Adolescence* leads the nominations with six, including Best Limited Series and acting nominations for Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty. The drama series category sees strong contenders like *The Pitt* and *Severance*, each with four nominations, while the comedy series race is highlighted by *Nobody Wants This*, which tops the category with five nominations, outpacing Emmy winners such as *Hacks* and *The Studio*. The Critics Choice Awards will be broadcast live on E! and the USA Network on January 4, 2024, at 7 p.m. ET, offering fans a chance to celebrate the best in film and television. With such a diverse array of talent and storytelling, this year’s nominations promise to deliver a thrilling event for audiences and industry professionals alike.

The smash hit vampire film earned 17 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Michael B. Jordan), and Best Supporting Actress (Wunmi Mosaku). Trailing just behind it is Paul Thomas Anderson’s
One Battle After Another
, which picked up 14 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), Best Actress (Chase Infiniti), Best Supporting Actor (Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn), and Best Supporting Actress (Teyana Taylor).
Other big contenders in the film nominations include Chloé Zhao’s

(both with 11 nominations).
On the TV side,
Adolescence

received the most nominations with six, including Best Limited Series, Best Actor in a Limited Series (Stephen Graham), Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series (Owen Cooper and Ashley Walters), and Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series (Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco). Strong contenders on the drama side include Emmy winners
