The Atlantic Across America: Announcing Events in Every State

By Eric December 4, 2025

In a nod to its storied past, The Atlantic is launching a new event series titled *The Atlantic Across America*, which will take the publication back to its roots in Boston and eventually to all 50 states over the next three years. This initiative comes at a time when the nation is grappling with complex issues, echoing Ralph Waldo Emerson’s reflections on the need for stability amidst the chaos of information overload. The series aims to facilitate meaningful conversations around pressing topics such as American democracy, cultural shifts, technological advancements, and environmental concerns. The events will not only feature The Atlantic’s journalists but will also involve partnerships with local and nonprofit newsrooms, ensuring a blend of national and local perspectives.

The inaugural event, which sold out quickly, is taking place in Boston and includes discussions led by Jeffrey Goldberg, The Atlantic’s editor in chief, alongside prominent figures like Meghna Chakrabarti and Congressman Jake Auchincloss. This event will delve into themes from the magazine’s upcoming special issue, “The Unfinished Revolution,” which reflects on the 250-year journey of the American experiment and the lessons learned from its founding era. As part of its commitment to engage with its readership, The Atlantic is also offering free livestream tickets to subscribers, further emphasizing its dedication to accessibility and community involvement.

Looking ahead, the *Atlantic Across America* tour will feature events in cities such as Phoenix, Miami, New Orleans, and Durham in the first half of 2026, with more locations to be announced. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by The Atlantic to deepen its connection with readers, expand its audience, and enhance its journalism. The magazine has seen remarkable growth in its subscriber base and revenue, indicative of its successful outreach efforts. Additionally, The Atlantic has made strides in educational access by providing free digital subscriptions to public high schools across the U.S., ensuring that students can engage with its extensive archive and contemporary journalism. This series not only marks an important chapter in The Atlantic’s history but also reaffirms its role as a vital platform for discourse in America today.
