By Eric November 28, 2025

In October 2025, the National Health Service (NHS) observed a significant surge in online General Practitioner (GP) requests, with over 8 million submissions recorded. This figure represents a remarkable increase of 21% from September 2025 and a staggering 68% rise compared to the same month the previous year. This trend highlights a growing reliance on digital platforms for healthcare access, as patients increasingly prefer the convenience of online services. The NHS and the government have been actively working to streamline the process of contacting GP practices, aiming to enhance patient experience and improve access to healthcare services.

With approximately one in three people now utilizing online services to communicate with their healthcare providers, the NHS is witnessing a shift in how patients engage with their health needs. By facilitating easier access to GP services online, the NHS aims to alleviate some of the pressure on in-person consultations and improve overall patient satisfaction. The significant growth in online GP requests underscores the importance of embracing technology in healthcare, paving the way for a more efficient and patient-centered approach to medical care. As we move forward, the NHS’s commitment to enhancing digital services will likely continue to transform the healthcare landscape, making it more responsive to the needs of the population.

More than 8 million people submitted their GP request online during October 2025, up more than a fifth (21%) on the previous month and up more than two-thirds (68%) on last year. The new figures come as the NHS and government strive to make contacting your practice as easy as possible. Around 1 in 3 […]
