Jimmy Kimmel reacts to Trump pivoting on the Epstein files

By Eric November 19, 2025

In a surprising turn of events, former President Donald Trump has shifted his stance on the release of the Epstein files, now encouraging Republicans to support their disclosure. This pivot comes amidst mounting pressure within the Republican Party, with at least 50 members reportedly prepared to break ranks and vote for the release. Trump’s change of heart was highlighted in a recent post on Truth Social, where he stated, “As I said on Friday night […] to the Fake News Media, House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide.” This sudden endorsement marks a significant departure from his previous year-long resistance to the release, during which he consistently downplayed the importance of the files and discouraged their publication.

Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel humorously addressed Trump’s reversal, pointing out the irony in his claim of collective innocence by stating, “I have some bad news, there’s no ‘We’. It’s just you bro.” Kimmel’s commentary underscores the skepticism surrounding Trump’s motivations, suggesting that his newfound support for the Epstein files may be a strategic maneuver rather than a genuine desire for transparency. Similarly, Jon Stewart echoed Kimmel’s sentiments, criticizing Trump for attempting to shift the narrative onto the Democrats, rather than taking responsibility for his own stance on the issue.

This development not only reflects Trump’s complex relationship with the Republican Party but also highlights the ongoing public interest in the Epstein files, which are linked to numerous high-profile figures and allegations of misconduct. As the pressure mounts for transparency, the dynamics within the GOP could shift significantly, with Trump’s latest comments potentially influencing the upcoming vote. The release of the Epstein files could have far-reaching implications, not just for Trump but for the political landscape as a whole. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this will affect public perception and the ongoing dialogue surrounding accountability and transparency in politics.

and encouraging Republicans to vote for the release in a post on Truth Social. And on Monday night, Jimmy Kimmel reacted tp the pivot.
“At least 50 Republicans are expected to break ranks, which has forced Trump to now claim he’s for the files being released, after almost a year of saying he didn’t want them released,” says Kimmel in the clip above. “After a year of stalling, hedging, browbeating members of his own party, last night, all of a sudden, Trump reversed course completely. He wrote, ‘As I said on Friday night […] to the Fake News Media, House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide.’

Jon Stewart was similarly unimpressed with Trump’s attempt to deflect the issue onto the Democrats
