Chappell Roan Explains Why She Was ‘Nervous’ for Mexico City Show: ‘I Wasn’t Sure If the Crowd Would Vibe With Me’
Chappell Roan, the rising pop star from the Midwest, recently captivated audiences at the Corona Capital festival in Mexico City, a performance that she described as a pivotal moment in her burgeoning career. In her latest Instagram post, Roan opened up about her initial anxieties leading up to the festival, expressing concerns about how her pop sound would resonate in a lineup dominated by rock acts like Foo Fighters and Linkin Park. Despite her worries, Roan was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from the crowd, which she described as “wonderful” and supportive. Her vibrant performance, highlighted by her unique “screaming banshee” outfit, showcased her commitment to her artistry and her ability to connect with diverse audiences.
Roan’s reflections on her experience in Mexico City reveal her determination to bridge cultural gaps, as she humorously noted her dedication to learning Spanish through Duolingo. This commitment to language and cultural engagement underscores her desire to connect authentically with her fans. Following her successful set at Corona Capital, Roan’s schedule remains packed; she is set to perform at various festivals across Australia in February, including Lollapalooza Brasil and Lollapalooza Chile in March. Additionally, she is gearing up for the 2026 Grammy Awards, where she is nominated for two prestigious awards, including Record of the Year for her hit single “The Subway.” As Roan continues to carve her niche in the music industry, her ability to embrace new experiences and challenges only amplifies her appeal as an artist poised for greater heights.
