Will there be an Alien: Earth Season 2? Heres what we know.
FX’s *Alien: Earth* has quickly emerged as the must-watch show of the summer, captivating audiences with its thrilling blend of horror, sci-fi, and groundbreaking technology. The prequel series, crafted by Noah Hawley, has delivered an exhilarating eight-episode run filled with spine-chilling creatures and a captivating storyline that feels as intense as a mini *Alien* film. As the finale approaches, fans are left wondering about the future of the series and whether they can expect more adventures in this terrifying universe.
The excitement surrounding *Alien: Earth* has reached new heights with the recent announcement that FX has officially renewed the series for a second season. On November 11, 2025, FX confirmed the renewal alongside news of Hawley’s new overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television, signaling a bright future for the franchise. Hawley has long envisioned the expansion of *Alien: Earth*, stating in a 2025 interview with *Variety* that Season 1 serves as a “proof of concept.” He expressed his ambition to develop a sustainable model for future seasons, hinting at a potential for Seasons 3, 4, and beyond. Additionally, he has been proactive in addressing the timeline for future episodes, indicating a desire to streamline production to minimize the wait for fans.
While FX has not yet announced a specific release date for Season 2, they revealed that filming is scheduled to begin in London in 2026. Given the production timeline for Season 1—which faced delays due to the SAG-AFTRA strike—the wait for new episodes could extend to 2028. However, with the absence of impending strikes, there’s hope that the production process will be smoother and more efficient this time around. In the meantime, fans can catch up on the thrilling first season of *Alien: Earth*, now streaming on Hulu, as they eagerly anticipate the next chapter in this gripping saga.

When would
Alien: Earth
Season 2 air?
FX has yet to set a release date for
Alien: Earth
Season 2. However, the renewal announcement stated that Season 2 will begin filming in London in 2026. From this, we can make an educated guess based on the turnaround time on Season 1.
Season 1 of
Alien: Earth
entered production in July of 2023, although it began filming without its American SAG-AFTRA members due to the Hollywood strikes. (British cast members were able to film as they were not part of SAG-AFTRA.) Production paused later due to the strike, before resuming in April of 2024 and then wrapping in July of 2024. The show premiered in Aug. of 2025, making for a two-year turnaround from the beginning of production to release. That means we might be waiting until 2028 for a Season 2.
However, production on an
Alien: Earth
Season 2 will not have to contend with another SAG-AFTRA strike, meaning it will hopefully take less time for Wendy (Sydney Chandler) and
her Xenomorph
to grace our screens again.
Alien: Earth
Season 1 is now streaming on Hulu.
