Nomad’s new wallet tracking card gets a battery life boost

By Eric November 12, 2025

Nomad has unveiled its latest innovation in wallet tracking technology with the release of the Tracking Card Pro, a significant upgrade from its predecessor. Designed to fit seamlessly into wallets or billfolds, the new card boasts an impressive battery life of up to 16 months on a single charge, a notable improvement over the standard version’s five-month lifespan. Priced at $39, the Tracking Card Pro comes with a slightly higher price tag than the previous model, but customers can take advantage of a 10 percent discount when purchasing two cards. This enhanced longevity is particularly appealing for users who often forget to recharge their devices, ensuring that their belongings remain easily locatable for extended periods.

While the Tracking Card Pro offers longer battery life, it does come with some trade-offs. The card has increased in thickness to 2.5mm to accommodate the larger battery, compared to the 1.7mm thickness of the standard model. Despite this, it remains significantly slimmer than Apple’s AirTags, which measure 8mm. The card features a durable polycarbonate body with exposed aluminum edges, contributing to its robust design, although it weighs slightly more at 15 grams. Functionality-wise, the Tracking Card Pro maintains compatibility with Apple’s Find My network, allowing users to trigger audible alerts when within 150 feet of the card. It also supports wireless charging and can attach to MagSafe or Qi2-compatible charging pads, making it a versatile option for tech-savvy consumers.

However, potential buyers might want to consider alternatives like Pebblebee’s recently announced Card 5 wallet tracker, which offers a competitive edge. Priced at $34.99, the Card 5 is not only cheaper but also thinner at 1.74mm and supports both Apple’s Find My and Google’s Find Hub networks. With a maximum battery life of up to 18 months and wireless charging capabilities, it presents a compelling option for those in the market for a wallet tracker. As the landscape of tracking technology continues to evolve, consumers now have a variety of choices to fit their needs, balancing features, price, and compatibility.

Nomad released a new version of its tracking card designed to be carried in wallets or billfolds that comes with a big boost to battery life. Its new
Tracking Card Pro
will last for up to 16 months on a full charge, while the
standard version
maxes out at up to five months. It’s available now through Nomad’s online store for $39 which is $10 more expensive than the older model, but buying two will get you a 10 percent discount.

A steeper price tag isn’t the only drawback to the Tracking Card Pro. To accommodate a larger battery the new version is 2.5mm thick compared to 1.7mm thick for Nomad’s standard Tracking Card, but it’s still much thinner than Apple’s 8mm thick AirTags. Made with a polycarbonate body featuring exposed aluminum edges, the Tracking Card Pro is also a bit heavier at 15 grams.

Functionality is the same as its predecessor with support for Apple’s Find My tracking network and the ability to trigger audible alerts when you’re less than 150 feet away from the card. It supports wireless charging and while the card lacks magnets of its own, it has enough metal inside to stick to MagSafe or Qi2-compatible magnetic charging pads.

Longer battery life is a welcome upgrade for those who regularly forget to charge or replace the batteries in their trackers. Even so,
Pebblebee’s recently announced Card 5 wallet tracker
may be a better option over Nomad’s latest. It’s
cheaper at $34.99
, thinner at 1.74mm, supports both Apple’s Find My and Google’s Find Hub networks, and has wireless charging with up to 18 months of battery life.
