TikTok will let users share feeds in DMs

By Eric December 10, 2025

TikTok has recently introduced an exciting new feature called “Shared Feed,” which allows users to share a personalized stream of content with friends and family through direct messaging. This innovative approach aims to foster connection and enhance the social aspect of content consumption, particularly in a world where many individuals find themselves doomscrolling alone. With Shared Feed, users can engage in a curated selection of videos that align with both participants’ interests, making it easier to bond over shared tastes, whether that’s sports, cooking, or fashion.

The mechanics of the Shared Feed are simple yet effective. After initiating a shared feed in a direct message with someone, TikTok’s algorithm takes over, providing a daily selection of 15 videos tailored to the unique preferences of both users involved. For instance, if you and a friend are avid golfers, your feed will be filled with golf-related clips, while a couple might receive recipe suggestions for their weekly meal prep. This personalized experience not only keeps conversations lively but also encourages interaction, as users can comment, like, and discuss the videos within the chat. Moreover, if at any point users feel the feature isn’t for them, they can easily exit the shared feed without any hassle.

This new feature comes at a time when social media platforms are increasingly focusing on enhancing user engagement and connection. By allowing users to share experiences and content with loved ones, TikTok is tapping into the growing desire for community and shared experiences in digital spaces. The Shared Feed not only aims to make doomscrolling a more enjoyable and social activity but also highlights the platform’s commitment to creating a more personalized and interactive environment for its users. As TikTok continues to evolve, features like Shared Feed could redefine how we consume and interact with content, making it a more communal experience that reflects our interests and relationships.

What’s better than doomscrolling alone? Doomscrolling together.
TikTok has made that possible with a new feature where you can share a feed with someone via DMs. Wrote TikTok in
a press release
:
“We’re also announcing
Shared Feed
, a new way for friends and families to watch and enjoy TikTok content together though a shared interest-based feed in direct messaging. Shared Feed can help two people stay connected by surfacing new content tailored to both of their tastes, from sports to holiday winter activities and even their favorite fashion creators.
Each day, friends and family members will find a curated selection of 15 videos in their private chat aligned with their interests. Each Shared Feed is unique to the people who join it, and videos are generated based on their TikTok activity, such as what they like, watch, and comment on.”
So all you need to do is start a “shared feed” in a DM with someone, then the TikTok algorithm will feed you a daily dose of more than a dozen videos that both people should enjoy. So, say, you and a golf buddy
get fed golf clips
, or you and your partner
get recipe ideas
for meal prep.
Users can message about, comment on, and like the videos within the DM. And, should they not like the experience, users can leave the shared feed at any time.
