Amber Ruffin sticks up for Seth Meyers after Trump comments

By Eric December 10, 2025

In recent weeks, Donald Trump has ramped up his social media attacks on late-night television hosts, particularly targeting Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert. His comments, often posted on his platform Truth Social, have sparked a wave of responses from the comedians, who have taken to their shows to address the former president’s critiques. The barrage of tweets has become so frequent that Amber Ruffin, a regular on Meyers’ “Late Night,” humorously remarked on the absurdity of Trump’s obsession, noting that he seems to have an unending fixation on the late-night hosts.

During a recent segment on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Ruffin highlighted Trump’s latest jab at Meyers, where he claimed, “Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent.” In a spirited defense of her colleague, Ruffin quipped, “This man is obsessed,” and urged Meyers to showcase his talents. The playful banter continued as Meyers humorously deflected her prompts to sing or dance, highlighting the camaraderie and light-heartedness that often characterizes late-night television. Meanwhile, on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” legendary host David Letterman also joined the fray, offering support for Meyers and reinforcing the solidarity among late-night hosts in the face of Trump’s criticisms.

This ongoing exchange underscores the evolving relationship between politics and entertainment, particularly in the realm of late-night comedy. As comedians like Meyers, Kimmel, and Colbert continue to engage with political figures and current events, they not only provide a platform for humor but also serve as a voice for public sentiment. Trump’s relentless critiques may be intended to undermine their credibility, but they have instead galvanized the late-night community, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and resilience against political attacks. The dynamic illustrates how late-night television remains a crucial space for cultural commentary, often reflecting and shaping public discourse in the process.

It’s kind of hard to keep up with Trump’s continuous tirades against the hosts, as
Late Night with Seth Meyers
regular Amber Ruffin pointed out during her “Amber Says What” segment on Tuesday night’s show.
During her show-favourite news recap, the comedian noted that Trump had taken aim at Meyers yet again in November,
posting on his own social media platform
, “Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent.” Ruffin was having absolutely none of that, and stuck up for her colleague.
“Someone told me that Trump tweeted about

and I was like, ‘What? I already know that.’ And they were like, ‘No, he did it again.’ And I was like, ‘Whaaaat? This man is obsessed,” she said.
“So this time, Trump said, ‘[Seth] Meyers has no talent,’ and that’s simply not true. Show him Seth.”
Throwing to a nonchalant Meyers, the late night host responded, “Show him what?”
“Show him you can sing!”
“Oh, I don’t sing.”
“Well, show him you can dance!”

“Seth, you
