ICE operation in Minneapolis arrests seven ‘worst of the worst’ criminal illegal aliens

By Eric December 6, 2025

In a significant enforcement action, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has arrested seven more criminal illegal immigrants in Minneapolis as part of Operation Metro Surge. This operation targets individuals deemed to be among the “worst of the worst,” including those with serious criminal backgrounds such as pedophiles, gang members, and drug traffickers. The arrests highlight a broader crackdown on illegal immigration and crime, with offenders originating from countries including Somalia, Venezuela, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticized local leaders, including Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey, for allegedly prioritizing the protection of these criminals over the safety of American citizens. The statement reflects a broader political narrative surrounding immigration enforcement, particularly under the Biden administration, with figures like President Trump and Governor Kristi Noem advocating for strict measures against illegal immigrants.

Among those arrested were Abdi Gelle Mohamed and Sahal Osman Shidane, both from Somalia, who were convicted of sexual offenses against minors. Other notable arrests included Mukhtar Mohamed Ali, also from Somalia, who has a history of robbery and domestic assault, and Andriu Javier Padron-Chacare from Venezuela, identified as a member of the notorious Tren de Aragua gang. The operation also apprehended Job Catani Cardenas from Ecuador, convicted of domestic assault, and Humberto Disla Sarita from the Dominican Republic, who was involved in a cocaine trafficking conspiracy. Additionally, Ernesto Vides-Cabrera from Guatemala faced charges for driving under the influence and assault. These arrests follow a previous operation in which DHS rounded up at least a dozen illegal immigrants, further emphasizing the agency’s commitment to enhancing public safety through targeted enforcement actions.

The urgency of these operations is underscored by alarming crime statistics, including a reported 1,153% increase in assaults on law enforcement officers. The situation has drawn national attention, particularly in light of the Justice Department’s recent federal charges against Abdimahat Bille Mohamed, a convicted sex offender who allegedly kidnapped and raped a woman he met online. His case exemplifies the complexities surrounding immigration enforcement and public safety, as he had previously avoided prison time under a plea agreement. As the DHS continues its crackdown, the debate over immigration policy and public safety remains a contentious issue at both state and national levels, with advocates on all sides weighing in on the implications of these enforcement actions.
