Trump doubles down on voiding Biden autopen actions, including pardons and commutations
In a bold move that has reignited debates over presidential authority and executive actions, former President Donald Trump declared on Truth Social that he intends to nullify any documents signed by President Joe Biden using an autopen. Trump’s announcement, made on Tuesday, states that all executive orders, pardons, and other legal documents executed by Biden through this device are “null, void, and of no further force or effect.” This declaration follows Trump’s previous assertion that Biden’s use of the autopen—an automated signing device traditionally employed for efficiency—was unauthorized, claiming that it undermines the legitimacy of the documents produced. Trump has gone so far as to assert that 92% of Biden’s documents were signed using the autopen, a claim that, if true, raises significant questions about the authenticity of Biden’s executive actions.
The implications of Trump’s announcement are profound, particularly concerning the pardons issued by Biden during his administration. Among the notable individuals who could be affected are Dr. Anthony Fauci and Biden’s brother, James Biden, whose pardons were reportedly signed with the autopen. However, it’s important to note that Hunter Biden’s pardon, which addressed potential offenses from 2014 to 2024, was hand-signed by the President, thus remaining valid under Trump’s declaration. This situation is further complicated by the fact that over 160 executive orders were signed during Biden’s tenure, creating a contentious landscape of legality and authority surrounding these documents. Trump’s claims have sparked discussions about the proper use of the autopen, which has been a tool for presidents since the Truman administration, and whether its use constitutes a breach of protocol when not explicitly authorized by the sitting president.
As this situation unfolds, it raises critical questions about executive power and accountability within the U.S. government. Trump’s assertion not only targets Biden’s actions but also reflects a broader strategy to challenge the legitimacy of his predecessor’s presidency. The White House has not provided any immediate response to Trump’s claims, leaving many to speculate on the potential legal battles that may arise from this declaration. With the political landscape increasingly polarized, this development is likely to fuel ongoing debates about the nature of presidential authority and the validity of executive actions taken in the modern era.

President
Donald Trump
announced in a Truth Social post on Tuesday that he would “fully and completely” terminate any documents signed by former President Joe Biden’s autopen, including pardons and commutations.
“Any and all Documents, Proclamations, Executive Orders, Memorandums, or Contracts, signed by Order of the now infamous and unauthorized ‘AUTOPEN,’ within the Administration of Joseph R. Biden Jr., are hereby null, void, and of no further force or effect,” Trump wrote.
“Anyone receiving ‘Pardons,’ ‘Commutations,’ or any other Legal Document so signed, please be advised that said Document has been fully and completely terminated, and is of no Legal effect. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The post confirms Trump is doubling down on potential action after announcing last week he would void any executive orders signed using the autopen from former President Biden.
TRUMP TO VOID ALL DOCUMENTS ALLEGEDLY SIGNED BY BIDEN VIA AUTOPEN, THREATENS PERJURY CHARGE
“The Autopen is not allowed to be used if approval is not specifically given by the
President of the United States
,” Trump wrote last week. “The Radical Left Lunatics circling Biden around the beautiful Resolute Desk in the Oval Office took the Presidency away from him.”
The president claimed in his post that former president Biden did not personally approve autopen signatures, which is a device which has been used since the Truman administration. In the same post, Trump said 92% of Biden’s documents were signed with the autopen device.
Over 160 executive orders were signed during the Biden administration.
BIDEN ONLY HAND-SIGNED ONE PARDON DURING FINAL SPREE, AND IT WAS HIS MOST CONTROVERSIAL ONE
Fox News Digital confirmed
that the list of possibly voided pardons does not include former President Biden’s son Hunter, as that was signed by hand. The alleged autopen pardon list includes Dr. Anthony Fauci and brother James Biden.
Former President Biden signed a pardon last year for Hunter Biden’s offenses that he “has committed or may have committed” from Jan. 1, 2014, to Dec. 1, 2024.
Also on the list as part of a more than 1,500-person spree of pardons near the end of Biden’s term include Gen. Mark Milley and members and staff of the House committee investigating Jan. 6.
