5 Seconds of Summer Shines on ARIA Chart With ‘Everyone’s A Star!’
5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) has made an impressive debut on the ARIA Albums Chart with their latest release, *Everyone’s A Star!* (Universal), which has rocketed to No. 1. This milestone not only marks the band’s sixth studio album but also establishes them as the first act in ARIA Charts history to achieve the top spot with each of their first six studio albums, a record that includes their previous hits like *5 Seconds of Summer* (2014), *Sounds Good Feels Good* (2015), *Youngblood* (2018), *Calm* (2020), and *5SOS5* (2022). Their live album, *LiveSOS*, also made waves by peaking at No. 7 back in 2014. This latest triumph demonstrates the band’s enduring popularity and significant impact on the Australian music scene, particularly as they return home for promotional activities, including a fan-led press conference in Melbourne and their induction into the Australian Walk of Fame in Sydney.
The ARIA Albums Chart reflects a strong showing from Australian artists, with 5SOS’s achievement complemented by the No. 2 position held by rock legend Jimmy Barnes, whose 40th anniversary edition of *For The Working Class Man* (Mushroom Music) continues to resonate with fans. Barnes, affectionately known as “Barnesy,” boasts the most No. 1 albums in Australia, with a total of 16 solo chart leaders and six with Cold Chisel. This all-Australian top two also means that Taylor Swift’s *Life of a Showgirl* has been pushed down to No. 3 after a six-week reign at the top. Newcomers are also making their mark, with Don West debuting at No. 25 and the punk rock quartet Mini Skirt entering the chart at No. 36 with their sophomore album, *All That We Know*.
The excitement of the ARIA Awards, held recently in Sydney, continues to reverberate through the charts. Olivia Dean, who performed at the event, has climbed to No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with her track “Man I Need.” Meanwhile, Tame Impala, led by Kevin Parker, is gaining traction in the top 30 with “Dracula,” marking a new peak position. The evening also saw You Am I inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, performing a nostalgic set that included fan favorites “Heavy Heart” and “Berlin Chair,” both featured on their new compilation album. As the music scene evolves, RÜFÜS DU SOL continues to tour in support of their fifth studio album, *Inhale/Exhale*, further solidifying their presence on the charts. Overall, the current ARIA landscape showcases a vibrant mix of established stars and emerging talent, reflecting the dynamic nature of the Australian music industry.
