Apple Podcasts having issues as internet outage continues

By Eric November 19, 2025

On Tuesday morning, Apple Podcasts users faced significant disruptions due to a widespread outage affecting Cloudflare, a major web infrastructure and security service. The trouble began at approximately 6:48 AM ET when Cloudflare acknowledged that it was investigating an issue impacting multiple customers, resulting in numerous users encountering “widespread 500 errors.” Just over half an hour later, at 7:21 AM ET, Cloudflare reported that services were beginning to recover, although users might still experience higher-than-normal error rates as remediation efforts continued. This incident highlights the interconnected nature of online services, where a single provider’s outage can ripple through various platforms, leading to widespread accessibility issues.

Despite Apple’s system status page indicating no problems with its platforms, reports from Mashable staff and users on social media suggested that Apple Podcasts was indeed down. The disruption affected many listeners who rely on the platform for their favorite shows, raising concerns about the reliability of digital services. In a statement to Mashable, Cloudflare explained that the outage was triggered by a sudden spike in unusual traffic starting at 11:20 UTC, which led to errors for traffic routed through its network. While the cause of this unusual traffic remains unclear, Cloudflare assured users that they were actively working to resolve the issues and would provide further updates as investigations progressed.

This incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities inherent in our digital infrastructure. As services like Apple Podcasts depend on third-party providers like Cloudflare, outages can lead to significant disruptions for users worldwide. As the situation develops, both Cloudflare and Apple are expected to keep users informed about the status of their services, emphasizing the importance of transparency during technical difficulties. For now, users are advised to remain patient as the teams work to restore full functionality.
