Raspy-voiced Trump reveals reason he ‘blew my stack’ in heated discussion

By Eric November 18, 2025

In a recent meeting with the White House task force focused on the FIFA World Cup 2026, President Donald Trump made headlines not only for his participation but also for his noticeably hoarse voice. When questioned by reporters about his condition, Trump attributed his raspy vocal cords to a heated discussion regarding trade negotiations with an unspecified foreign nation. “I feel great. I was shouting at people because they were stupid about something having to do with trade and a country, and I straightened it out, but I blew my stack at these people,” he explained, hinting at his frustration with attempts by a country to renegotiate their trade agreement. However, when pressed for details, Trump remained tight-lipped, stating, “Why would I say that to you?”

This incident comes against the backdrop of ongoing trade discussions between the U.S. and several nations, including Japan, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Notably, Trump recently met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where they made significant strides toward resolving their trade tensions. For instance, Trump announced a reduction of tariffs on Chinese imports from 57% to 47% in exchange for China’s cooperation in combating the fentanyl crisis. This move is part of a broader strategy to stabilize trade relations, as Trump also indicated that he would refrain from imposing an additional 100% tariff on Chinese goods that had been slated to take effect. In light of these developments, Trump expressed optimism about the future of U.S.-China trade relations, declaring the recent meeting with Xi a resounding success, rating it a “12” on a scale of 10.

The ongoing trade negotiations highlight the complexities of international relations and the delicate balance of economic power. As the U.S. navigates its trade policies, the implications of these discussions extend beyond tariffs, impacting everything from global supply chains to domestic economic stability. Trump’s assertive approach to trade negotiations underscores his administration’s commitment to reshaping America’s trade landscape, although the lack of transparency regarding specific nations involved raises questions about the broader strategy and potential consequences. As the world watches, the outcome of these negotiations may well define the future of U.S. foreign trade policy and its relationships with key global players.

President
Donald Trump
blamed his hoarse voice on a tense discussion with a foreign nation who attempted to renegotiate the terms of their trade deal.
Trump sported a raspy voice during a meeting with the White House’s task force on the FIFA World Cup 2026, prompting a reporter to ask if he felt alright.
“I feel great. I was shouting at people because they were stupid about
something having to do with trade
and a country, and I straightened it out, but I blew my stack at these people,” Trump told reporters Monday.
When pressed about which country, Trump did not specify which nation sparked his ire and only said that he wasn’t pleased.

The U.S. has engaged in

TRUMP SAYS CHINA WILL WORK WITH HIM TO STOP FENTANYL TRAFFICKING
For example, Trump said he agreed to cut tariffs on
Chinese imports
by 10% — bring down the rate from 57% to 47% — because China said it would work with the U.S. on
addressing the fentanyl crisis
.
Likewise, Trump said that he would not
impose an additional 100% tariff
on Chinese goods that were expected to kick in Nov. 1. Trump threatened the steep hike after China announced in October it would impose export controls on rare-earth magnets, which he said China had agreed to postpone by a year.
Afterward, Trump said that a
broader trade deal between the two countries
would be signed in the near future.
“Zero, to 10, with 10 being the best, I’d say the
meeting was a 12
,” Trump told reporters after meeting with Xi. “A lot of decisions were made … and we’ve come to a conclusion on very many important points.”
