NHS England responds to ADHD Taskforce final report

By Eric November 18, 2025

On November 6, 2025, the ADHD Taskforce released its final report, addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) across various sectors, including health, education, employment, and the criminal justice system. Established to evaluate and improve ADHD care, the taskforce’s findings reveal that services are significantly strained, highlighting a pressing need for systemic reform and increased resources. The report underscores the importance of a holistic approach to ADHD management, advocating for better coordination between sectors to ensure that individuals receive comprehensive support tailored to their unique challenges.

The taskforce’s assessment indicates that many individuals with ADHD encounter barriers that hinder their access to necessary services. For instance, in the education sector, students with ADHD often struggle with learning environments that do not accommodate their needs, resulting in decreased academic performance and increased dropout rates. In the employment sector, adults with ADHD frequently face stigma and misunderstanding, which can limit their job opportunities and career advancement. The report also emphasizes the alarming rates of individuals with ADHD within the criminal justice system, where untreated symptoms can lead to involvement in criminal activities. By drawing attention to these interconnected issues, the ADHD Taskforce advocates for a comprehensive strategy that includes increased funding, training for professionals, and public awareness campaigns to foster a more inclusive society for those affected by ADHD.

The final report serves as a crucial call to action for policymakers and stakeholders to prioritize ADHD care and support across all sectors. It recommends the development of standardized protocols for diagnosis and treatment, improved training for educators and employers, and enhanced collaboration between health services and social systems. By implementing these recommendations, the taskforce aims to create a more supportive environment for individuals with ADHD, ultimately leading to better outcomes in their personal and professional lives. The publication of this report marks a significant step toward addressing the systemic challenges faced by those with ADHD and reinforces the need for a unified effort to improve care and support across the board.
