Circuit Capital Launches With More Then $500 Million in Backing From Create Music Group
In October 2023, The Circuit Group made a significant move in the music industry by launching Circuit Capital, a new platform designed to acquire and scale music assets and cultural intellectual property (IP). Backed by Create Music Group, Circuit Capital is equipped with over $500 million to fuel its mission of investing in music catalogs, record labels, publishers, and other music-driven ventures. This initiative aims to create long-term sustainable value in the music industry while providing essential capital to support upcoming projects from artists managed by The Circuit Group. The fund will not only focus on back catalog investments but will also engage in futures funding deals, enabling artists to invest in their own music and careers.
The Circuit Group, which combines the management expertise of companies like Ayita and Seven20, represents a roster of prominent electronic artists including deadmau5, Fisher, Chris Lake, and Aluna. Founded by industry veterans Dean and Jessica Wilson, along with partners Brett Fischer, David Gray, and Harvey Tadman, the group aims to acquire 50% ownership in artists’ IP portfolios and collaborate with them to create diverse opportunities across various verticals. This strategic approach is designed to foster a community atmosphere where artists, entrepreneurs, and rights-holders can thrive together. Harvey Tadman, co-founder of The Circuit Group, emphasized the importance of cultural understanding in their operations, stating, “Our mission is to put culture at the center of everything we do.” This philosophy is crucial for ensuring that artists can scale their careers with partners who genuinely understand their world.
The partnership with Create Music Group is seen as a natural fit, particularly following Create’s acquisition of deadmau5’s catalog earlier this year. William Smith, CFO of Create Music Group, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting Circuit’s commitment to building enduring value for their clients. The partnership aims to leverage both organizations’ strengths to empower music entrepreneurs in creating sustainable, global businesses. As the music industry continues to evolve, Circuit Capital represents a forward-thinking approach that prioritizes the needs and aspirations of artists, ensuring they have the resources and support necessary to succeed in a competitive landscape.
