Tony Yayo Goes Off on DJ Vlad Over Potential Memphis Bleek Verzuz Battle: ‘You Can’t Be Serious’

By Eric November 15, 2025

In a recent interview with VLADTV, Tony Yayo, the G-Unit rapper, made it clear that he is not interested in a Verzuz battle with Memphis Bleek, dismissing the idea as unworthy of consideration. Yayo, 47, expressed his confidence in his skills and catalog, stating that the matchup wouldn’t be fair. He emphasized his longevity in the industry, having been active for over two decades, and pointed out that he has consistently delivered strong performances and music, including hits from his debut album *Thoughts of a Predicate Felon* and G-Unit projects like *Beg for Mercy* and *Terminate on Sight*. Yayo’s perspective reflects a deeper understanding of the rap game, as he noted that many see him as an underdog, but he has a rich history that speaks for itself.

During the interview, Yayo highlighted his impressive track record, mentioning his global tours and the continued popularity of his music, such as the singles “So Seductive” and “I Don’t Love Hoes,” which remain relevant today. He shared anecdotes about his experiences in the industry, including a year-and-a-half stint in jail during a pivotal moment in his career, which shaped his views on the politics of hip-hop. Yayo’s confidence was evident as he stated, “I show up and show out on them Verzuz,” indicating that he believes he would hold his own in such a setting, despite his reluctance to engage in a battle with Bleek. His remarks serve as a reminder of the competitive nature of the rap industry and the respect he has earned over the years.

Tony Yayo’s comments not only showcase his self-assuredness but also highlight the contrasting paths of artists within the hip-hop community. While both he and Memphis Bleek have carved out their places in rap history through their affiliations with iconic groups—G-Unit and Roc-A-Fella, respectively—Yayo’s extensive touring and merchandise success further solidify his status. As he continues to navigate the music landscape, Yayo’s legacy is defined by resilience and an unwavering commitment to his craft, making him a noteworthy figure in the ongoing evolution of hip-hop. For fans eager to hear more, the full interview with DJ Vlad is available for viewing, offering insights into Yayo’s career and his thoughts on the current state of the music industry.

Tony Yayo isn’t entertaining the thought of taking on Memphis Bleek in a potential Verzuz battle, as the
G-Unit
rapper doesn’t even think it would make for a fair fight.

Yayo stopped by
VLADTV
for an interview on Thursday, and DJ Vlad asked him about who would win in a Verzuz between Yayo and Memphis Bleek because of their similar roles in iconic NYC rap crews — but the 47-year-old shut him down quickly.

“This is really ‘get the f— out of here Vlad’ sh–,” he said. “I know a lot of n—as look at Yayo as the underdog, but when you hear me on freestyles and mixtapes, I went to jail for like a year-and-a-half when sh– started to pop. So you know the politics of the game. We’re the most hated.”

Yayo continued: “N—as know I show up and show out on them Verzuz. But come on, bro, you can’t be serious. No way. A record like ‘So Seductive’ and ‘I Don’t Love Hoes’ are still playing.”

Essentially, Yayo went on to say it’s levels to this, as someone who continuously tours around the globe with a catalog that dates back over two decades.

“I’m going on my own tours… Name anywhere in Canada, every club was filled out. Selling merch on my own because of the G-Unit brand,” he said. “I done been in Nelson Mandela’s cell, what do I have to prove to n—as?”
