How much does Paramount+ cost per month?

By Eric November 12, 2025

On November 10, 2025, Paramount Skydance revealed that the streaming service Paramount+ will see a price increase effective January 15, 2026, alongside the discontinuation of free trials for new users. This decision is significant as it reflects a broader trend in the streaming industry where platforms are adjusting their pricing strategies amid rising competition and operational costs. Currently, Paramount+ offers two subscription tiers: the ad-supported Paramount+ Essential and the ad-free Paramount+ Premium. The Essential tier is set to rise from $7.99 to $8.99 per month, while the Premium tier will increase from $12.99 to $13.99 per month. For users opting for annual subscriptions, the new prices will be $89.99 and $139.99, respectively, still providing some savings compared to monthly payments.

The Paramount+ Essential plan allows subscribers access to over 40,000 episodes and movies, including select Showtime series, and features like streaming NFL games on CBS and UEFA Champions League matches. Meanwhile, the Premium tier offers everything in the Essential plan without ads (except during live TV), complete access to Showtime, live CBS streaming, and enhanced picture quality options like 4K and HDR10. Despite the upcoming price hikes, Paramount+ remains competitively priced compared to other streaming services. Its ad-supported tier will continue to be one of the cheapest, alongside Peacock and Netflix, while the Premium tier will still be more affordable than offerings from HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu.

As the streaming landscape evolves, these price adjustments may influence consumer choices. While Paramount+ is raising its prices, it still positions itself as an attractive option with a diverse content library and competitive pricing, particularly for those looking for a balance between cost and content. With the discontinuation of free trials, the company appears to be focusing on converting potential subscribers into paying customers, a strategy that could reshape its subscriber base in the coming years.
