New Jersey Elections: How to Vote, Where to Vote and What’s on the Ballot

By Eric November 4, 2025

In the race for New Jersey’s governorship, Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli and Democratic candidate Mikie Sherrill are both positioning themselves as the right choice to succeed Governor Philip D. Murphy, who is ineligible for re-election after serving two terms. This election is particularly significant as it takes place against a backdrop of pressing issues such as inflation, public safety, and the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ciattarelli, a former state assemblyman and business owner, has been focusing his campaign on economic recovery, advocating for tax cuts and greater support for small businesses, which he argues are essential for revitalizing New Jersey’s economy. He has also emphasized the need for improved public safety and has criticized the current administration’s handling of crime rates.

On the other hand, Mikie Sherrill, a sitting U.S. Representative, is leveraging her extensive experience in Congress to appeal to voters. She highlights her commitment to social issues, such as education reform and healthcare accessibility, which she believes are crucial for the well-being of New Jersey residents. Sherrill has also been vocal about the importance of gun control measures, reflecting her stance on public safety from a different angle than Ciattarelli’s. As both candidates prepare for the upcoming election, they are actively engaging with voters through town halls and debates, where they are addressing key concerns and outlining their visions for the future of New Jersey. The outcome of this election will not only shape the state’s policies but also reflect the broader political landscape as both parties seek to energize their bases and attract undecided voters.
