Vivo X300 launch finally brings OriginOS to the rest of the world
Vivo has made a significant move by launching its flagship X300 and X300 Pro smartphones internationally, marking the first time its proprietary operating system, OriginOS, will be available outside of China. The announcement comes just two weeks after the phones debuted in the Chinese market, demonstrating Vivo’s commitment to expanding its reach in Europe. The X300 series will be available in several European countries, including Austria, Spain, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Italy, with prices starting at €1,049 (approximately $1,200) for the X300 and €1,399 (around $1,600) for the Pro model.
OriginOS, which has been exclusive to the Chinese market since its inception in November 2020, is now on version 6.0 and offers a refreshing upgrade from Vivo’s previous operating system, Funtouch OS. The latter has been criticized for its uninspiring design and excessive bloatware, leaving many international users yearning for a more vibrant and user-friendly experience. In contrast, OriginOS boasts a colorful interface with enhanced customization options, including a revamped lock screen featuring depth effects and basic widgets. The new “Dynamic Glow” design adds a modern touch reminiscent of Liquid Glass, making it a visually appealing alternative for users looking for a more engaging smartphone experience.
The X300 and X300 Pro are not just about software; they come equipped with impressive hardware specifications that cater to photography enthusiasts. Both models feature large silicon-carbon batteries, with capacities of 6,040mAh for the X300 and 6,510mAh for the Pro, although these figures are slightly lower than those of competitors like Oppo and Xiaomi. The standout feature of the Pro model is its remarkable 200-megapixel telephoto camera, which promises to deliver exceptional photography capabilities. Additionally, both phones are compatible with the 2.35x Zeiss telephoto extender, further enhancing their photographic prowess. With these advancements, the X300 series is poised to compete as one of the leading options for those seeking high-quality mobile photography in the market.
