Trump dances with Malaysian performers as he kicks off Asia tour in lively fashion

By Eric October 26, 2025

In a lively start to his Asia tour, President Donald Trump showcased his dance moves alongside Malaysian performers, a moment that was humorously dubbed the “TRUMP DANCE — MALAYSIA EDITION!” by the White House on social media. This engaging welcome was orchestrated by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, setting a positive tone for the president’s five-day trip through the region. Trump’s itinerary includes significant meetings with newly-elected Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo and Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, highlighting the trip’s diplomatic importance amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.

One of the key milestones of Trump’s visit was the signing of a peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, which he oversaw during the annual summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This expanded ceasefire deal aims to resolve long-standing conflicts that have displaced approximately 260,000 people. The agreement, which mandates the release of 18 Cambodian soldiers held by Thailand and the removal of heavy weaponry from the border, has been hailed by both Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul as a historic achievement. Trump expressed pride in his role, stating, “We did something that a lot of people said couldn’t be done,” while Ibrahim emphasized that reconciliation is an act of courage rather than concession.

In addition to the peace deal, Trump engaged in economic discussions with both Cambodia and Thailand, further solidifying U.S. interests in the region. Notably, he signed agreements with Malaysia focused on trade and critical minerals, aiming to bolster U.S. supply chains and reduce dependency on China, particularly in light of recent restrictions imposed by Beijing on essential technology components. As the tour progresses, the implications of these agreements could resonate throughout the region, potentially reshaping trade dynamics and fostering stability in Southeast Asia.
